Cyrus Klepcys Dice Only Watch
The 9th edition of the Only Watch auction is scheduled to take placed on November 6th, 2021 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Geneva. While the main aim of the charitable event is to raise funds for the noble cause of supporting research in the field of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, from a horological perspective, it allows participating watch brands to push their creative boundaries and produce exceptional timepieces. Today’s special serving from the Only Watch 2021 menu comes in the form of the stunning, sporty, and complex Cyrus Klepcys DICE for Only Watch timepiece.
At a glance, this watch can easily be mistaken for a typical Cyrus offering with the brand’s signature twin crown setup. But look a little closer, and the mystery behind the DICE starts unraveling. You see, DICE is an acronym for Double Independent Chronograph Evolution, which implies that this watch features not one but two separate thoughtfully implemented chronograph mechanisms. The crown at 3, highlighted by an orange aluminum ring, is used to trigger the first set of chronograph functions that can be tracked using the centrally mounted orange chronograph hand, as well as orange hand within the 30-minute counter. The crown at 9, highlighted in yellow, controls the second set of chronographs functions using a yellow set of hands.
But the intriguing color coordination does not end there. You get two individually colored chronograph scales. Furthermore, the two column- wheels, which, thanks to the skeletonized dial, are visible from the front, have also been painted yellow and orange to segregate the dual chronograph setup. The hour index has been presented using printed Arabic numerals, which, along with the semi-skeletonized hands have been coated with white luminous paint for better low light visibility. There is a running second display at 9, which uses a helix-shaped hand to track the seconds. The open-worked dial also means that you get to witness the complex mechanical internals of this watch.
Speaking of internals, the DICE Only Watch model is powered by a new automatic manufacture calibre CYR718. This movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a healthy autonomy of 60 hours using just one barrel. The movement also comes equipped with an Incabloc shock protection system. It is visible from both the front as well as the rear of the watch.
